Created by Ghanaian artist Kwaku Ntow, Sweet Girl, Read celebrates Black girlhood, literacy, curiosity, and the quiet power that begins when a child learns to seek knowledge for herself.

The painting features a young Black girl absorbed in the pages before her. There is no audience and no performance. She is simply reading. In that ordinary moment lives something much larger: imagination, education, independence, and the beginning of discovering a world beyond what she has already been shown.

Sweet Girl, Read became the cover artwork for the January 2026 issue of The Bloodline Tribune, permanently connecting the piece to Bloodline's own publishing history and its commitment to reading, writing, education, and preserving Black stories.

The title carries both affection and instruction.
